If you have to make multiple stops during a day then it can be frustrating working out the order in which to make the calls - do you go to customer A first or customer B, which order should I deliver these parcels in, what is the optimum route for my journey?

Thankfully there is a solution.

The Magellan Roadmate 800 has multiple destination route optimisation. Enter a number of different destinations and the system calculates the optimum sequence in which to visit them.

Consider the average day for sales rep or courier - look at the appointments/calls that need to be made today, get the map, decide roughly in which order to visit each location.

Or, enter all the destinations in the Roadmate 800, click "optimise" and then start your journey!

The savings from such a system could be tremendous - consider just how many miles the average courier/sales rep covers each year - just a 5% saving (which I would imagine is more than achievable) will cover the cost of this unit in a short time relative to the lifetime of the system.

This is the sort of productivity investment that really makes sense, especially considering the recent increase in fuel prices and the detrimental effect that has had on the profitability of a lot of businesses.

Security Tip:

Theft of satnav's from cars is a growing trend in the UK. Here are some tips to consider:-

1. Never leave the system on view in the car when left unattended.
2. Remove windscreen mount when leaving the car empty.
3. Wipe the windscreen to remove the circular suction cup mark left - an easy giveaway to a potential thief.

Hello!

Hi,

Thanks for reading this blog.

This blog belongs to www.whichsatnav.co.uk - an online resource for all things related to in-car satellite navigation in the UK.

The website has been developed over the last six months and launched on the 12th March 2006. To date we have had over a thousand visitors and have received a lot of encouraging feedback.

Latest news - TomTom are to launch a new range of satnav systems this summer. Named the 510, 710 and 910, they are welcome additions to a brand that already has issued some great products - read more information on the following links - TomTom 510 , TomTom 710 and TomTom 910

Tip of the day - remove your satnav system from your vehicle when it is not in use - a growing number of crimes are being reported where people have left their systems on view in their vehicles whilst left unattended only to return and find the window smashed and the system taken. Remove the system from display, including the windscreen mount (not forgetting to wipe away the circular mark left by the suction cup - an easy give-away) and place it, out of view, in the glove box or boot.

System of the week - TomTom ONE - a great system available from a number of retailers for under £240!!!

Safe motoring!
